Sydney Airport auctioning hundreds of lost property items for charity
A treasure trove of lost property left at Sydney Airport is going on sale online – and it’s all for a good cause.
From electronics to fragrances, misplaced items left at the airport can be snagged for a fraction of the regular price.
It’s all part of an annual online auction raising money for sick children.
Over the past seven years, the auctions have raised $1.2 million for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Even though the airport has been uncharacteristically quiet in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, there’s still more than 1,500 listings on the site.
Wedding rings, laptops, instruments and even a record player are among the items up for sale.
“If you’re happy to put someone else’s AirPods in your ears, they’re here for sale,” Shaquille Ali from Pickles Auctions told 7NEWS.
Georgia Clark from Sydney Airport lost and found said there’s always quirky items that come through the terminals.
This year, there are a few.
“From Gucci to your guitars. We’ve got a two-burner stovetop, a massage belt, a mini hoverboard,” she said.
Bids opened on the online auction on Sunday night with hundreds already lodged in an effort to snag a Christmas bargain.
