Pre-registration for Clark County auction begins Wednesday
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — It’s that time of the year again — or at least one of the three times a year.
The preview and pre-registration for the first Clark County government surplus auction runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday on site of Saturday’s auction, 4320 Stephanie St., off East Flamingo Road near Dog Fancier’s Park. The auction starts at 8 a.m.
Saturday’s sale features about 200 vehicles and 500 lots of miscellaneous items used or acquired by area police departments, local cities, the state of Nevada, Clark County School District and other government agencies including furniture, computers, bicycles, electronics and other items from McCarran International Airport Lost and Found division.
Anyone interested in participating on site in Saturday’s sale must register as a bidder in person at the TNT Auction trailer at the auction lot. There is no cost to register. Payment is expected upon winning a bid. Cash, credit cards, debit cards, cashier’s checks, traveler’s checks and money orders are accepted.
“Our auctions are very popular with the public,” said David Johnson, manager of Clark County’s Automotive Division, which oversees the sales. “We encourage participants to register ahead of time so you don’t miss any action on auction day. The sale starts promptly at 8 a.m.”
Clark County contracts with TNT Auction to manage the sales. Catalogs listing vehicles and miscellaneous items being sold are posted on TNT’s website at www.tntauction.com.
Many items are moved to the auction site in advance of the sale and can be looked at during the preview period. Interested buyers can sit in vehicles and ask for them to be started up during the preview period. Clark County has an instructional video in English and Spanish posted on its website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov and on YouTube to show prospective participants how the registration, bidding and payment process works.
On auction day, two sales occur on site at the same time – one to sell vehicles and the other for miscellaneous items. An exception for on-site registration is if you plan to participate in the online portion of the vehicle auction, which is conducted at the same time as the on-site vehicle auction.
Anyone who plans to bid for vehicles online must register in advance of the sale online by Friday through TNT’s website. If you register online for the vehicle auction, you must bid online.
The miscellaneous property auction is only conducted on-site and starts with the sale of lots containing airport lost and found items. These items are not available for preview by the general public prior to the start of Saturday’s auction. Dates for other auctions in 2016 are May 14 and Nov. 10. Both start at 8 a.m.
In 2015, the auctions raised $4.9 million for participating governmental entities, including $2.6 million for Clark County agencies. Each auction drew an average of 1,848 bidders.
