Newlywed Who Lost Wedding Ring at LaGuardia Airport Will Get It Back in Time for Thanksgiving
A Florida newlywed says he cried when he learned that his missing wedding ring was found at a New York City airport and would be returned to him in time for Thanksgiving.
The Hillsboro Beach, Florida resident took off his ring and left it in a checkpoint bin as he was traveling through LaGuardia Airport lost and found in Queens recently, according to a press release from the Transporation Security Administration. A TSA officer spotted the ring and delivered it safely to TSA’s lost and found office.
The man remembered where he left the ring and contacted TSA’s lost and found office to ask if they had it. A quick check resulted in good news.
TSA officials arranged to have the ring shipped overnight to the man’s home at his expense and the ring is expected to reach him soon.
“You are a life saver,” the man wrote in an email to the TSA’s lost and found office at LaGuardia. “My wedding ring meant so much! I was in tears that it would be lost.”
The man has been married for one year, according to a TSA spokeswoman
“It was quite an emotion-filled response from him,” said Veronica Falzon, who oversees TSA’s Lost and Found Office at LaGuardia Airport Lost Property. “It could have been a sad Thanksgiving holiday had the ring been lost forever. I’m thrilled that we could return the ring to him. Returning the ring made my day.”
The spokeswoman told NBC 4 New York that while she couldn’t quantify how often passengers leave behind sentimental items, according to her, people do leave behind jewelry with some frequency.
