Lose a stun gun or a back brace? They might be at the airport

A stun gun. A back brace. A child’s red stroller. These are just a few of the items turned in at the Louis Armstrong International Airport over the past few days, according to the airport’s website.

ID’s, passports, backpacks, eyeglasses and car keys are frequently mentioned items on the lost and found list.

Lose a canvas print with “skulls and watermelon”? Then it might be yours at the airport. How about a piece of art called “The Crying Girl”? It’s there, too.

A straw hat with a purple ribbon, a “wrapped fragile item (unknown item) with areomexica tag,” a gray Graco carseat, a book by Tina Fey — they’re at the airport, along with a plethora of rings, sweaters, iPods, flip phones, chargers and more. read more Louis Armstrong Airport lost and found

If any of this stuff is yours, you’ll have to provide some additional details to the folks at the airport before they hand anything over to you.

Check the list here and note the item number and contact the Customer Service Department, which retains items that have been lost in the public areas of the terminal (with the exception of the concourse checkpoints, which are operated by the Transportation Security Administration).read more Louis Armstrong Airport lost property

The office is located on the Upper Level in the Concourse C Lobby near the Airport Police. Lost and Found is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. You can contact them at 504.303.7790. Items that have been turned in to Lost and Found are kept for three years.

“The Airport is not responsible for charges incurred by shipping lost items to the rightful owner,” it states on its website.

Persons losing items in the “airline-exclusive areas,” such as ticket counters, gate areas or airplanes, should check with that particular airline’s baggage office located on the Lower Level.
